It should be important to clarify the hearing threshold in VHF region. To this end, a VHF sound source has been fabricated in this report to generate enough level of sound pressure up to 110 dB from 15 to 25 kHz. The authors utilizedan offset parabolic reflector designed for receiving satellite broadcasting signals. The reflector was illuminated with a commercial tweeter speaker and focuses the VHF sound at_x000D_\none point. The mean SPL of 134.4 dB was successfully obtained over the frequency range. Fluctuation of the SPL was suppressed by changing the applied voltage. To generate higher SPL, we need to use a 2x2 array of tweeters for the source. The fabricated system will be used in studies of human hearing characteristics for VHF sound. We used a constructed system to measure hearing thresholds in the VHF region.
