Nevertheless, the intermittent nature of renewable sources creates problems in the operation of power system. For this reason to increase the value of the renewable sources and to ensure stability in the power system operation, integration of batteries or other energy storage systems is commonly recognized as the most promising solution. Because of the high costs of batteries it is essential to design them in an optimal way with the intent to reduce as much as possible the dimension of the battery itself and, at the same time, to ensure safety operation of the power system. In this paper, a study for dimensioning a battery system is presented.
