In power system, oscillation will not occur as long as the impedance seen by generator set is 'passive'. To ensure the impedance is 'passive' seen by the generator set, a series resistor can be placed in the system. This paper describes the application of virtual resistor concept in converter controller to replace the extra series resistor to improve 'passivity' in the system.
