Wavelet transform (WT) is a widely used method for MI feature extraction, but its performance strongly depends on the chosen mother wavelet (MW). This study proposes a novel method that utilizes actual MI EEG signals as custom MW, taking advantage of WT’s similarity property. EEG signals from 10 MI trials are averaged to generate subject-specific MW, which are then used in WT to produce scalograms.
