This article reviews recent developments in magnetic hyperthermia and magnetic particle imaging. Magnetic nanoparticles are used in vivo for both of these medical applications. To achieve high heating efficiency of magnetic nanoparticles for hyperthermia, it is necessary to understand the magnetic relaxation of magnetic particles under an applied ac field.
