In order to clarify how the frequency of vibration sensation can be controlled when electricallystimulating sensory nerves, the relationship was studied between the stimulation signal, whichis input intraneurally into a single (rapidly adapting) mechanoreceptor unit, and the subjective frequencyof the evoked sensations. The subjective frequencies of the evoked sensation were psychophysicallyquantified using an actual mechanical stimulus to administer a standard stimulus.
