The spectral response is one of the critically important characteristics of photocells, especially for those using newly developed materials. However, traditional apparatuses for the spectral response measurement, which usually consist of a white light source such as Xe-lamp and monochromator, are expensive for the newcomers in this field. In this context, we report here the prototyping of a simple device for the measurement of spectral response of photocells using LEDs.
