In the case of constant size motor controlled by constant current density, the volumes of SPM motors are smaller using higher flux density lower iron loss electrical steel sheets, and the losses are also lower with lower iron loss electrical sheet sheets. In high efficiency design, motor losses decrease with lower iron loss steels although the volumes are larger.
