The permanent magnet rotor ofa conventionalpermanent magnet synchronous motor is replaced by the rotor madefrom HTS materials with the objective of increasing power densities andreducing losses. A BSCCO disk is used for the rotor of the HTS hysteresis motor.This disk has 118.8 mm, 26.1 mm and 7.3 mm for outer diameter, inner diameterand height, respectively. The HTS hysteresis motor is tested on condition ofbeing fed by PWM inverter at 77.3 K.
