The electrical characteristic of AC\/DC combination discharge was studied. A barrier discharge was used under AC voltage supply (60Hz), and then the AC voltage was transferred into DC voltage by a diode bridge for a positive streamer corona discharge. The barrier discharge was expected to limit the total discharge current. In such system, the sample gas (NO [500ppm]\/N2) would be treated by barrier and then streamer discharge. As a result, both the uniform barrier discharge and streamer discharge occurred. By electrical measurement, a DC voltage peaks with frequency of 3kHz whose dV\/dt was 0.44kV\/ns was observed. Such voltage peaks were regarded as effective to maintain a uniform streamer corona discharge. To solve the problem of voltage drop after barrier discharge, a two stages Deltatron-Greinacher circuit was used for voltage conversion instead of diode bridge in another experiment. By such circuit the DC output was increased up to two times of AC input voltage, when AC applied voltage was 8.82kV, a high DC output voltage of 16.5kV was applied on the streamer discharge reactor.
