The quest to reduce the emission or replace the greenhouse gas with the same or better dielectric strength has been carried out. Recently, an extremely low environmental effect gas such as trifluro-iodo-methane (CF3I) was innovated. Although lightning impulse insulation performance on CF3I was investigated, the gas by-product of the CF3I after discharge occurrence is still uncertain. The main objective of this study is to obtain knowledge of gas decomposition influence by continuously partial discharge (PD) occurrence and the sparkover voltage (Vs) characteristics under non-uniform field of AC applied voltage.
