The surface conductance of microbeads is affected by the DNA labeling and causing the change of Clausius-Mossotti (CM) factor K of DEP. In former studies, we focused on the effect of the real part of K (Re[K]). Recently, we proposed a new DNA detection method based on the traveling wave dielectrophoresis (twDEP), which is a phenomenon mainly effected by the imaginary part of K (Im[K]), because the Im[K] will change more dramatic than Re[K] against DNA attachment on the microbeads.
