要約(英語): This paper investigates the basic electric parameters (impedance and admittance) of high-voltage dc (HVDC) transmission lines. It is made clear that the widely adopted Carson’s earth-return impedance cannot be used as the frequency approaches zero because the inductance tends to infinity. An accurate calculation of the earth-return impedance shows the inductance converging to a constant as f ? 0. However, the propagation velocity and characteristic impedance will tend to zero and infinity respectively if the accurate calculation is adopted. This problem is solved by adopting a distortion-less line concept. The concept enables the estimation of the transmission line’s conductance, either theoretically or by using a monitored voltage. Frequency responses of the wave propagation parameters using the estimated conductance, inductance together with the known dc resistance and space capacitance show physically reasonable characteristic of the HVDC transmission line.
