要約(英語): In recent years, a large amount of renewable energy such as photovoltaic (PV) power generations has been introduced to Japanese power systems. In addition, the electricity system reform started in 2013 for the full liberalization of retail sales and the unbundling of power generation and transmission. Hence, the electricity market transactions will become more active in the future. After the feed in tariff policy ends, the electricity production from PV power generation will also be purchased or sold through the electricity market. It will be more difficult for power generation companies with PV power generation to make profits. On the other hand, it will be more difficult for power generation companies with thermal power generators to keep the same profits as before because the PV power generation, which does not require fuel costs, will participate in the market. From the long-term perspective including generation planning, it is necessary for the power generation companies to consider whether to construct conventional generators or PV power generation when abolishing the conventional generators and installing new power sources.
