要約(英語): When conditional automated vehicles are driving in treacherous traffic conditions such as merging into a through lane of highway, drivers often need to switch from the automated mode to the manual operation to avoid potential traffic hazards due to the performance limits of automated driving. To address the shortcoming, if the information of traffic in the through lane can be provided in advance before the merge, drivers can be informed and prepared for the upcoming merge maneuvers. This paper discusses the effect of transmitting information to conditional automated vehicles to support the merge maneuvers at highway junctions.
