要約(英語): In a hot rolling mill, slabs are pressed in the width direction by a sizing press facility. At the hot rolling mill of JFE Steel East Japan Works, various controls are performed by measuring the slab width before and after the sizing press. We have developed a slab width meter using a commercially available laser range finder. And, the width profile meter which detected the shape of slab end face after the sizing press was developed. This paper reports the measurement technique and the application technique.
