要約(日本語): We assessed brief exposure to radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields used for a wireless communication system installed on a smart meter in the 920 MHz band. Although the low-power wireless communication device used for the smart meter inherently complies with exposure guideline, the assessment of the RF electromagnetic field exposure is useful to deepen our understanding of human safety. Recently, newly provided basic restriction in a revised guideline limiting human exposure to electromagnetic field was expressed as SA (specific absorption). In this study, we clarified how to apply the assessment method of the revised ICNIRP guideline and calculated the SA values in the head exposed to RF fields emitted from a wireless communication system installed on a smart meter. A locally averaged SA in the head of an anatomical human model was calculated to be 29.9 mJ/kg for an input power of 20 mW. It was shown that RF fields around smart meter was much smaller than the basic restriction level in the exposure guideline.
