Now these two countries are conducting reforms their capacity market in order to facilitate investment in decarbonized capacity. While in Japan the auction for long-term decarbonized capacity as a special auction of the capacity market will be introduced, government in the UK called for evidence on early action to align with net zero. This paper compares the capacity market reform of the two countries to illustrate the issues in decarbonization subject to security of supply.
