要約(日本語): 電気事業経営にとって負荷率の向上は極めて重要で当初より広く認識されていた。日本は、欧米諸国に比し低緯度にあり、定額料金制の採用等から負荷率は優位にあったことから本格的な取組みは遅れた。大正期の逓信省技師の海外視察を基にした学習を踏まえて1930年代以降、負荷率の把握と負荷平準化への取組が活発化していった。本稿においては、こうした取り組みの過程を調査し、日本特有の課題と対応状況を明らかとした。

要約(英語): Improving load factor is extremely important for electric utility management. In Japan before the war, efforts to understand load factor and load leveling were promoted based on learning from overseas situations. This paper investigates the process of these efforts and clarifies the challenges and responses unique to Japan.
