In order to monitor biological substances, the device which does microperfusion in subepidermal tissue was developed. Our device is aiming for skin patch type sensor system which consists of pump, skin inserting needle and biological substance sensor. The microperfusion needle has enough rigidity for inserting through the skin by using acupuncture needle. The flow channel and perforated membrane were made by polyimide on the surface of a thin steel acupuncture needle using our developed non-planar microfabrication process. For measuring lactate, one of the target biological substance, concentration of perfusate continuously, enzyme electrode sensor with two-layer bubble removal flow channel was fabricated.
