要約(日本語): This paper focuses on the separation and size identification of closely arranged targets having significantly different radar cross sections (RCS). This environment assumes a standing or walking pedestrian in the vicinity of a truck or large car. The problem is that two closely arranged targets generate one combined pseudo-peak between them due to the insufficient angular resolutions of automotive radars. This paper introduces antenna element spatial pseudo-peak suppression (APPS) to reduce the effect of a pseudo-peak. Simulation and experimental results validate that the proposed APPS-based radar identifies the presence of closely arranged equidistant targets having a relative angle of one degree and significantly different RCS. An experiment result for detecting an actual pedestrian and bicycle further validates the effectiveness of the proposed APPS-based radar.
