要約(英語): Power distribution system built on the conventional AC system is steadily changing, and is considered to be transformed into an AC/DC hybrid systems. The shift to next-generation distribution systems is taking place in Europe. The main topic of the author’s one-year visit was to survey and investigate technological issues to realize the hybrid system. The UK is tackling the above issues in cooperation with Ireland and other island nations as well as continental countries. Technologies that need to be developed and evaluated relate to the high-voltage DC insulation. This paper reports the research activities and living situation experienced in the one-year visit in University of Southampton.
