要約(日本語): The increase of power generation by intermittent renewable energy sources leads to increased fluctuations in power flowing through transmission lines. This increased variability increases the risk of line overload i.e. the probability of violating the thermal ratings of the transmission lines. In this paper, a methodology for the assessment of line overload risk is presented. The methodology uses probabilistic models of ambient weather conditions around the transmission lines to determine the probability of violating the maximum temperature constraint rather than the traditional maximum current constraint. The risk assessment uses a simplified conductor temperature model which significantly reduces the computation time.
