要約(日本語): With the ever-growing computing demand of IoT, Big Data, and Social Media, it is unclear whether CMOS technology can continue to support these services in the long term with their constrained power budgets. Superconductor devices are known for extremely high performance and energy-efficiency, which makes them a good candidate for next generation data centers and supercomputers. In particular, the adiabatic quantum-flux-parametron (AQFP) logic family has a switching energy of around 1.4 zJ per device at a clock frequency of 5 GHz. We review the key prototype demonstrations done in AQFP logic including the world’s first adiabatic superconductor microprocessor. We then outline emerging research directions on how to exploit this technology for future computing applications.
