要約(日本語): Fuel cell technology is considered as a green energy source that is a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) is considered as a promising alternative energy conversion device for both mobile and stationary applications due to their unique features such as ambient temperature working conditions, fast start-up, high specific power density, and easy mobility. This study explores the use of protic ionic liquids (PILs), considered as green solvents, in the preparation of silica-based proton exchange membrane (PEM) for fuel cell applications. Ionogels refer to ionic liquids that have been encapsulated within the silica network via sol-gel process. Results of this study particularly zeroed in on the promising properties of ionogels as proton exchange membrane for nonhumidified and moderately high temperature PEMFC applications.
