要約(日本語): Statistics of coastal aquaculture in Thailand (2011-2020) show an average of 2,061 mussel farms per year, covering an area of 15,465 rai per year, with an average production of 83,680 tons per year, valued at 651 million baht per year. The aforementioned mussel production results in the accumulation of approximately 35,000 tons of mussel shells per year. The accumulated waste mussel shells cause environmental problems, public health issues, and development challenges due to the lack of additional landfill space. Processing shell waste into high-value innovative products with commercial potential not only creates value from agricultural waste through up-cycling processes but also promotes waste management processes by converting mussel shell wastes into micro-calcium carbonate and nano-calcium carbonate using zero waste process.
