タイトル(英語): 【Invited】Characterization of bionanocoating on papiliodae coneal surface

著者名: Wang Zhehui(Shandong First Medical University), Akira Baba(Niigata University)

キーワード: nanobiocoating|reflectivity|hydrophobic|AFM|biomimetic|

要約(日本語): The nanocoatings on insect corneas are one example of Turing patterns, and the first known example of nanoscale Turing patterns. AFM (Atomic Force Microscope) is employed to study the surface nanostructure of papiliodae cornea, providing a compendium of corneal nanocoatings represented by the maze-type, dimples-type, and nipples-type coatings (and transitions between these structures, further to the smooth unprotected surfaces seen in several species). The morphology of corneal nanocoatings are very diverse in papiliodae cornea, with nipple-like structures that can be organized into arrays or fused into ridge-like structures. Reflectivity and hydrophilicity experiments are also conducted to assess the anti-reflection and wetting properties of papiliodae cornea, which show excellent antireflection and hydrophobicity. In addition to the anti-reflectivity, other functionalities have been attributed to bionanocoatings, such as anti-wetting / self-cleaning, bactericidal, or anti-fouling.
