要約(日本語):In this paper an overview of current organic solar cells will be discussed as well as the applications of surface plasmon resonance in some recent papers. Organic solar cell performance has been gaining much attention due to their ease of fabrication procedures. In addition to their ease of fabrication, their performance has substantially increased over the last decade. This has been largely due to the development of various high-performance organic electron-acceptor and donor materials, which include polymers, small molecules and fullerenes being used as the active layer. Advances in interfacial transport layers have also contributed to more efficient and high-performance solar cell devices. Apart from enhancing the performance of the solar cells with material engineering approaches, certain applications require ultra-thin film solar cell. These include applications in flexibles electronics, curved geometrical surfaces, transparent technology applications and many more. However, due to the ultra-thin characteristic of the films, this can result in potentially high losses of light absorption since there is not enough material to absorb the rest of the light. As such, the application of surface plasmon resonance in such thin-film application can result in light trapping and enhanced near-field and far-field effects can enhance charge transfer and boost the overall performance of the device.
