要約(日本語): Ultrasound (US) stimulation is expected to noninvasively stimulate the local and deep areas of the brain. However, the cellular mechanisms of neural activation are unclear. Moreover, conventional open-loop stimulators have a risk of over-inducing neural activity for long-time uses, resulting in unnecessary responses. Here, we have developed a piezoelectric micromachined US transducer (PMUT) to modulate the neural activities of brain slices at a cellular level. Considering the future applications of closed-loop US stimulation, we incorporated recording microelectrodes onto the PMUT. To examine the possibility of our fabricated device, we measured the PMUT-driven cellular responses. We discuss the probability of a closed-loop US stimulation system with high resolution in future applications.
