要約(日本語): Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) enable people to communicate through thought, especially for locked-in syndrome patients. While reactive BCIs respond to external stimuli, requiring users to react to specific cues, active BCIs harness spontaneous thoughts without relying on external cues, allowing more natural communication. The complexity of modeling such free-form thoughts requires more complex data collection, during which users engage in prolonged and focused imagery tasks. This process can be particularly taxing, thereby limiting the wide use of active speech BCIs. To address this challenge, we introduce a novel method using passive auditory tasks instead of active imagery. By recording brain activity via EEG, we explore whether listening can effectively replace sound imagery.
