要約(日本語):Permissioned blockchain can use the notion of a membership to effectively remove the need for a proof of work in the context of blockchain and state-machine replication. Each new block is added to the chain by letting all participating processes select and agree upon a single one among a number of proposed blocks. This is done through the use of a Byzantine Agrement protocol.
This paper investigates the practical use of threshold signatures and some simpler alternatives to generate a quorum certificate in the context of permissioned blockchain protocols based on Byzantine Agreement. In particular, we take a close look at the HotStuff procotol and how it generates its quorum certificates.
