要約(日本語):Music has often been paired with physical activities such as sports, dancing, and rehabilitation to boost motivation, but studies have shown that musical stimuli can also enhance motor function and neuroplasticity. While the cognitive relationship between musical stimuli such as rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) and motor execution (ME) has been explored, little is still known about its effects on motor imagery (MI). In this study, we observed task-related neural responses to RAS and MI. An effective connectivity analysis also revealed similar bidirectional information flow between auditory and motor regions for MI and ME. We further characterize these effects through functional connectivity analysis to identify if RAS-based MI training will yield similar effects to ME training.
