要約(日本語): It is becoming very popular in supervisory and control system to deploy Information Technology (IT). Viewing various applications, the author categorizes systems into three groups from the viewpoint of real-time response capability and reliability. Category 1 is a simple extension based on industrial components and it gives a possibility to utilize the advantage of the present IT devices. Its characteristic is remote monitoring from anywhere and anytime, and easiness to add value on surveillance function with existing IT packages. Category 2 is basically the reinforcement by application software within the constraint of the existing IT infra. Cautious consideration to configure arrangement for application software to several NT machines makes the whole system robust to semi-critical usage. Category 3 is aimed for the mission critical places. It provides huge middleware software underneath standard IT software, including WEB browser, so as to ensure moreover the real-time response capability and reliability. This middleware originates in SCADA for power system and now extending to financial area, which is another mission critical area. In each category, practical implementation, which TOSHIBA developed, is explained .
