要約(日本語): One of the very important factors in a competitive business is the transportation associated with the business. Typically, the transportation cost is often considered as more than the half of the total logistic cost involved. As the sugar cane is the main crop of Minami-daitojima, a small island of Japan, the sugar industry plays the vital role in the economy of the island as well as the country. Currently, the transportation of the sugar cane is done by manual scheduling and routing. As the manual scheduling/routing method is generally unable to optimize the transportation cost accurately considering both time and effort. So, the situation insists us to propose a Geographical Information System (GIS) based heuristic method to optimize the cost of sugar cane transportation in Minami-daitojima.
