A third edition of IEC 61131-3 has been developed, while the new version of JIS B 3503 has been published in June 20, 2012. In such situation, we give a survey of the both new standards, and consider the trends of software technology of sequential control in relation to the object-oriented concept that is introduced in the new IEC standard.
