要約(日本語): Planar microelectrode arrays have been widely used to analyze neuronal activity in acute slice preparations, particularly by measuring field potentials produced by populations of neurons. In recent years, sub-cellular resolution recordings from single neurons have been achieved using CMOS-based high-density microelectrode arrays (HDMEAs). Accordingly, it is of interest to combine the HDMEA with patch clamp in order to simultaneously record the extracellular action potential footprint and the corresponding intracellular features (membrane currents, subthreshold synaptic potentials, action potentials) of a neuron. This paper presents a method on how to employ the HDMEA to localize and steer a patch pipette towards a neuron in an acute brain slice without using an optical microscope.
