要約(日本語): Microchannel devices are a promising tool for the development of sensory-capable neural prosthetics. Current limitations in the field involve low resolution of stimulation for sensory neurons, as well as poor distinction between the type of sensation to be elicited. The goal of this research will be to evaluate the feasibility of guiding axon growth through microchannels while differentiating source neurons between proprioceptive and nociceptive types. To do this, we plan to develop a device with sub-15um channels connecting neurons to separated reservoirs containing specific nerve growth factors for each type.
