要約(日本語): The recognition of the space in which we are placed, is performed not only by visual information but also by information from the auditory sense in the brain, and is regarded as a binaural effect in sound source localization. The accuracy of sound source localization by the binaural effect is considered to have a resolution of about 1 to 3 degrees in the direction close to the front. Under this condition, the time difference between sounds entering both ears is considered to be about one-hundredth of a second (10 μs). The mathematical analysis of sound source localization is carried out in consideration of calculating the resolution of the distance specifically, and the human ear has a spatial resolution of about several mm in a routine range.
