要約(日本語): In order to improve efficiency of surface treatment of oxide layer using vacuum arc cathode spot, two application methods have been suggested. One is to apply axial magnetic field to vacuum arc, which decreases stagnation, high speed and split movement, and also can maintain two cathode spots continuously. Another method is to apply transverse magnetic field to vacuum arc, which causes retrograde motion. As a result, no matter the direction of magnetic field is axial or transverse, cathode spot movement is determined by the electromagnetic repulsion force derived from electron and ion current.
