要約(英語): More than half a century has passed since thyristors were commercialized, and power electronics have become a fundamental technology in all fields from generation to consumption of electrical energy. In Japan as well, technological developments have been carried out in the field of power electronics immediately after the commercialization of thyristors. Then, in the 1980s, power electronics in Japan have taken a world-leading position. This report describes the major items of technological development from the early days of power electronics to around 1985 in Japan. The contents cover power conversion technology before thyristor era, power semiconductor devices, power semiconductor device application technology, motor drive, steel industry applications, railway applications, power supply equipment, power system applications, home appliances, and transportation equipment. In addition, standards and glossary, academic society activities, committee activities, and technical trends in research and development are included.
