要約(日本語): This paper reviews existing formulas of the earth-return impedance / admittance of overhead lines / cables, and a general formulation for the earth-return impedance /admittance is given based on Maxwell equations with complete initial and boundary conditions. Existing formulas such as Pollaczek / Carson’s earth-return impedance formulas are easily deduced from the proposed general solution by adopting initial and boundary conditions. Calculation examples show that the Pollaczek’s uniform current distribution results in numerical instability. Permittivity cannot be considered in Pollaczek / Carson’s formula and causes a significant effect on the admittance but a minor effect on the impedance. In addition, the frequency-dependent relative permittivity of earth is taken into account, and its effect on impedance and admittance is investigated. Finally, a lightning surge on a distribution line and a switching surge on an overhead cable (gas-insulated bus in a gas-insulated substation) are simulated to demonstrate the advantages of the general formulation in this paper.
