要約(英語): 　A new control design theory is proposed, where the design principles of the classical and modern controls are studied and they are unified in one theory. In Japanese education, deductive approach is considered important. However, true scholarly study is not in deduction but in induction. In study of control theory, invention of a better control theory is more important than its application.In this paper, the history of the coefficient diagram method is looked back, and the meanings of classical and modern control theories are clarified.
