要約(日本語): 近年，物理PCの管理コストを削減するため，多数の仮想的なPCを1台の物理PC上で動作させるPCの仮想化が注目されている．仮想PCをディプロイする際，データをコピーせずにファイルの複製を作成するファイルクローン機能を用いて，OSインストール済み仮想ディスクファイルを複製すると，仮想PCのディプロイ時間を短縮できる．一方，多数の仮想PCを同時に起動させるBoot Stormのようなケースが発生すると，クローンされた仮想ディスクファイルへのI/O過多により，仮想PCの性能が劣化する問題がある．そこで，本発表では，ファイルクローンの構成を利用したファイルキャッシュ共有機能を提案する．ファイルキャッシュ共有機能により，仮想ディスクファイルのファイルキャッシュヒット率を向上させ仮想ディスクファイルへのI/O数を削減できる．

要約(英語): Recently, to reduce management costs of physical PCs, virtual PCs are used as physical PCs and the virtual PCs run on one physical PC.When the virtual PCs are deployed, the virtual disk files that are used by the virtual PCs are duplicated by the file clone function.The file clone function sets a pointer to new files for original file instead of copying data,so the time in duplicating the virtual disk files becomes short. Generally, the virtual disk files are larger than one GB and it takes long time to duplicate;therefore, the time can be shortened by using the file clone function. On the other hand, when a lot of virtual PCs boot simultaneously, called as Boot Storm, these virtual PCs issue so many I/Os to the cloned virtual disk files, so these virtual PCs become slow down. To solve this problem, we propose new file cache mechanism that utilizes the structure of cloned files.It can improve the cache hit rate and reduce the number of I/Os that are issued to disks.
