要約(日本語): This paper presents the designs of a variable transmission magnetic gear (VTMG). The proposed designs utilize permanent magnets and copper coils. The principle of operation is changing the gear ratio by changing the number of pole pairs of high-speed and/or low-speed rotors. The 2D FEM simulation results show that a VTMG can be realized, and a torque density of around 30 kN.m/m3 can be achieved despite the relatively small size of the design. The results also show that a non-salient design of the high speed rotor produces double the torque of a salient design. The proposed VTMG is useful in variable-speed applications such as wind power generation, electric traction, power tools, etc.
