要約(日本語): An activatable probe which emits fluorescence only in the presence of a tumor associated enzyme γ-glutamyltranspeptidase have been successfully used in fluorescence imaging. However, fluorescence imaging can image tumors at only near surface due to blurring caused by strong optical scattering of biological tissues. To overcome this limitation, we are attempting to image activatable probes using photoacoustic (PA) imaging. To develop activatable probes for PA imaging, PA signal generation characteristics of various small organic molecules were compared. As results, all small organic molecules produced both fluorescence and PA signal, and those with small fluorescence quantum yield produced PA signals efficiently.
