要約(英語): This paper presents the concurrent designs of surface permanent magnet (SPM) machines for saliency-tracking self-sensing position estimation and power-conversion. Three SPM machine design approaches are discussed from the perspectives of position estimation and power-conversion. Finite element analysis (FEA) is mainly used in this study to obtain an insight into the magnetic behaviors in SPM machines. With the appropriate design modification, SPM machines can effectively increase the saliency for the closed-loop control while preserving their power-conversion capabilities.
