要約(英語): A microfluidic cell sorter, separating cells using a dielectrophoretic (DEP) force, with a three-fold symmetry structure was designed and fabricated. Each cell in the sample flow is deflected its flow direction by DEP force in narrow channel. The sample flow is observed by fluorescent microscopy for one-by-one detection and deflection. To realize a higher DEP force, the electrode gap was reduced by investigating the design and fabrication accuracy through simulations. Fabrication reproducibility was improved by ultraviolet bonding. Adhesion of sample particle on channel wall was reduced by bovine serum albumin coating techniques. These improvements increased stability of separation experiment. The separation experiment ,with 1 MHz a.c. electric field application using a model particle of 2 μm latex beads, resulted in separation ratio of 60-80%, which can be improved by use of actual cells at optimum frequency.
