要約(日本語): 従来，鉄道電化の歴史と事業用電化の歴史（電力会社による産業電化や都市部・農村部の商業地区の電化・家庭の電化など）は別々に論じられてきた。今般，この２者の電化の歴史の関連を調査した結果，欧米では，事業用電化の進歩が起点になって新しい鉄道電化方式とこれを支える電気機関車の技術が発展したことが明らかにした。また米国とヨ－ロッパでは，鉄道電化に関して，異なった進歩の道を歩んだが，日本は国情などを考慮して両者の「いいとこ取り」をしたことが明らかにした。

要約(英語): In existent researches, history of railway electrification and history of industry electrification has been studied separately. This paper describes results of investigation, in association with relation between railway electrification history and industry electrification history. As a result of the investigation, newly found facts, where development of new technologies for the industry electrification, inspired the development of new technologies for the railway electrification and for railway electric locomotives, are clarified.
