要約(日本語): Recently, electric railway system has been an increasing interest for transportation in large urban areas. This is because it has no pollution, higher performance, lower maintenance cost and lower energy cost. An electric railway system supplies electric power to railway trains through the transformers. A single-phase transformer is used for supplying the electric power to the railway trains. These transformers cause the unbalance of voltage and current in the power system network at the point of common coupling (PCC), which affects the critical loads. In this paper, the cause of unbalance loading of the electrical railway systems is investigated simultaneously. An approach for balancing the power system by the use of unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) is proposed. The simulation results of voltage balancing on MATLAB/SIMULINK program are presented and discussed in this paper.
