要約(日本語): In Thailand, there is high rate of lightning activity. It is necessary to prevent the faults of transmission lines caused by lightning strokes in order to enhance power system reliability. As a first step, this paper deals with the estimation of flashover rate of a 500 kV transmission line in Thailand. The flashover rate due to lightning depends on the critical current causing flashover and the location of ground wires with respect to the phase conductor. The critical currents are determined by EMTP simulation by using 3 different flashover models. The flashover rates are estimated by using the critical currents and A-W theory.
